Bio: Professionally, I have worked as a Reading Recovery teacher, English for Speakers of Other Languages teacher, and Reading Specialist. Recently, I retired from work in northern Virginia as a Reading Specialist. I love the challenge of helping all readers become successful. I am continuing to tutor students with reading difficulties. I am blessed with a 40+ year marriage, 2 sons, 3 daughters, and 15 grandchildren who keep life joyous with one learning experience after another. When I'm not working, I enjoy communicating with my children and their families, reading, playing the piano, knitting, poetry, long walks, and nature. I especially love wildflowers and trees and knowing their names. My blog is named for the bird I love to watch in flight--the brown pelican--and the writing life I aspire to live.
