My daughter’s baby was due yesterday. Today she cried. She’s so ready, but so unsure of herself. I wrote this for her.
My Lastborn, Her Firstborn
I swaddled, lullabyed,
fed and bathed her.
No one told me
How much I could love her.
Soon
I’ll be reminding her
that she knows,
as all mothers know,
what she needs to know.
She doesn’t believe me now.
But she will.
Lovely words for your child!
Beautiful. Our hearts do grow more each day with our children and for you, soon to be grandchild. How exciting. What a special gift you have given your daughter.
What a beautiful letter to your daughter! I still have the chills as I’m writing this. Best of luck and I bet your daughter is going to make a great mom! Sounds like she had a great role model.
How sweet! And very true. You sound like a wonderful mother so I’m sure she will be too.
I’m so glad this baby is arriving during March when you are ‘slicing”!! Awesome poem for a soon-to-be awesome mom by her mom, the writer!
Thank you, Sally! She is now 5 days overdue. They will induce on Tuesday if she hasn’t gone into labor. I arrive on Thursday which would work out great!
